Life Online: a basic IT skills course

A free, 4-week basic IT skills course for people in the community to learn how to use the internet, stay safe online, complete online transactions and make the most of apps and cloud storage.

When and where

This course takes place over 4 separate sessions, which will each focus on different areas of IT skills:

  • Week 1: Tuesday 5 November, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

  • Week 2: Tuesday 12 November, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

  • Week 3: Tuesday 19 November, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

  • Week 4: Tuesday 26 November, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

The venue will be the Carnegie Room, Northampton Central Library, Abington Street, NN1 2BA.

Who can attend?

This course is for people aged 19 or over.

Course outcomes

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the difference between email as an address and as an account

  • Use online forms quickly, efficiently and safely

  • Recognise some of the tactics used by scammers

  • Use cloud storage to share information across devices

  • Develop your own critical thinking to help identify information validity

  • Identify methods of online payment
